About Me

My photo
Hi, I'm normally an out and out crochet girl but recently I've been persauded or forced to take up other crafty tools and felt I needed somewhere to talk about them

Tunisian Crochet

I have now completed one of each of the nine different squares that will make up my throw.

And here they are

Square 1 - Tunisian Simple or Basic Stitch
I love the woven effect you get and it makes a dense fabric which is great for bags if you don't like lining them (like me)

Square 2 - Tunisian Crossed Stitch
A bit fiddly at first but soon got the hang of it

Square 3 - Tunisian Knit Stitch
Love the effect of this stitch - amazing that I got something that looks like knitting with a crochet hook

Square 4 - Tunisian Bias Stitch
Same stitch pattern as Crossed but by working 2nd row one stitch over you get diagonal lines

Square 5 - Tunisian Purl Stitch
I initially struggled with this one and was convinced I wasn't doing it right but a look at some online vids showed me I was (as well as showing me a handy hint for tunisian in general). It took some perseverance but I eventually got the hang of it.

Square 6 - Tunisian Rib Stitch
This stitch has got my imagination going, this is 3 simple 3 purl, wonder what it would look like with 3 knit 3 purl or if I worked it in a chequerboard. Also think it would make a lovely skirt in a tweedy yarn.

Square 7 - Tunisian Lace Stitch
Gorgeous lace pattern that this photo really does not do justice to.

Square 8 - Tunisian Honeycomb Stitch
Again the photo does not do this lovely pattern justice but I'm not David Bailey.

Square 9 - Tunisian Popcorn Stitch
Hmm again my not so good photography skills not helping here

So there you have it 9 squares down, many more to go.

  1. Wow! One of my crafty resolutions for this year is to learn Tunisian Crochet! I have a hook and some wool and am ready to go - I love the effect you get with it - so pretty. Can't wait to see your finished throw.

    1. I have to admit that it's been a while since I did any tunisian crochet, however I have been flicking through one of my books and if I get a chance to sit down with hook and yarn more squares may be posted. All I can say is watch this space but don't hold your breath.

  3. Hi,

I am in love with the 7th square. Do you have a pattern for it or a more official name so perhaps I can find a pattern? Thanks! Keep up the great work!
